e agora

One of my favorite things to do in SL is to attend Live music events. To hear someone that is truly talented, music that is expressive and ponders the mind, an art form unfiltered from media and stereotypes. These SL music artists are part of the unwashed masses, free from the constraints and restrictions of trying to fit into someone's "box".

My good friend Votslav is manager to some of these wonderful musicians, Peltzer Hirano IMHO is the best. Peltzer is a RL musician from Portugal that shares his music to the SL world. His show "One incoherent Scenario" is mix of Electro pop, piano and classical jazz. His Voice, lyrics and unique style of music has a way of hooking you.. leaving you with the desire to chant for more. (To say the least I am quite the fan.) To find out about Peltzer's show and other great talented musicians in SL you can join the group "symbiotic" or "PELTZER PIXELS".

"The Labyrinth" by Halden Beaumont featured his song "E agora", and is now part of the Second Life Showcase-Photos and Machinima. "The Labyrinth" was also nominated for best digital short film in the International Film Festival Festroia 2008.

See I told ya, Talent! I hope you take the time to visit Peltzer's show in world, you won't be disappointed.

One More Time

So today is my RL birthday, which means I am now 26! Thank you to all the friends that have sent birthday wishes via the social networking sites, Hugs and Kisses to you all for making today a little brighter. It's always amazing to have another year pass by and to realize how much that has been accomplished or changed in one's life. Looking back it's quite a shock that I managed to survive it all, but I suppose this is what life is all about :)

Listen Up!

Mt, thePrincess, Bells
We landed nude (close to it) for the results of the election.

Saturday marked the end of elections at CDS for the new RA term. For those of you that don't know what CDS is here is link to one of the longest traditions in Second Life's history.(CDS Wiki that includes history) In short CDS is a collection of themed based Sims that carry on in a democratic society. (most of the time :) )

Now normally when elections end the results are posted within a couple of hours; however this time we had to wait until Sunday to get the results due to "unforeseen wrinkles". So what was the hiccup? yep you guessed it. Tabulating Votes. (Election results from CDS forums)

The question to use zero based borda vs 1 based borda arose. Wouldn't you know It's just my faction's (NuCARE) luck that the results would change depending on how the SC decided to move forward. When the SC decided to use zero based borda, NuCare lost one seat. (Election certification from the SC)

MT has now petitioned the SC to appeal the election results (petition to SC) to rerun the election after the method of voting has been fixed. (btw, NuCare has no rep. in the SC) The SC is has set up a meeting later this week to discuss the petition.(announcment of meeting)
However, now it seems now the petition MT requested has been linked to the NuCARE faction, and is "urged to be rejected" by the SC. (Notice of correspondence: regarding Lundquist Petition)

Looks like election reform should have been solved during last RA term, but was never.

My questions: If zero based borda was the standard in past elections why was it brought into question for this election? Why did we have to wait an additional day so the SC could decide how the votes would be tabulated? IMHO the results shouldn't have been an issue at all, perhaps my lack of experience and naive nature in this matter brings these questions to the surface. It just doesn't seem fair that two different outcomes can arise during an election and based off the vote or general concession of one group the results change to favor one party over another. I am quickly learning there are shades of Grey in politics, and CDS is no exception. As my friend Vots reminded "Politics too is a game of chess".

So now it seems I have won a seat on the RA, and am now leader of the NuCARE faction. exciting yes! but I do have sense of sadness in the way elections were handled especially considering Nucare lost one seat. It just doesn't seem right.

Theres some people
that you just cant trust
but some people talk way too much.
Take my advice, and Listen Up!

now gather round now

One, two three, take it from me,

four, five, get it right, the first time
count it with me now!

Maneater

It's been a little over a week now since my partnership ended and Divorcee is now etched on my skin like a scarlet letter. Finding myself with this "single" status, a new world has opened up in SL, The dating world. This vibrant and at times deceptive area of SL has prompted the founding of a new blog. "The Femmes Fatales" which is an honest and brutal approach to dating mating and relating in SL.

We are looking for Ladies who are brave enough to share their experiences in the dating world.
So if you are a woman with a insatiable appetite for men, Single by choice, or looking for that special guy to call your very own. We invite you to join us and share your adventures and tragedies in SL dating. The Femmes Fatales, women from all walks of life..strong independent, and refusing to take crap from anyone.

Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cards
make you fall real hard in love

She's a Maneater, make you work hard
Make you spend hard
Make you want all of her love
She's a maneater
make you buy cars
make you cut cards
Wish you never ever met her at all!

Nothing Lasts Forever

There comes a point when the expiration date of an SL relationship hits, and boy was ours due a while back. It didn't seem like things would change and it was only a matter of time before we were back at square one again. As much as you want for things to get better, for them to work out sometimes they don't. I couldn't justify going ahead with another wedding only to be stuck in the same place, and not getting the time in that we used to. Waiting for the blue pop up to appear on my screen or an email to reach my in box.

A partnership should be more than just waiting. It's a commitment made to another person that you will be there, that you will spend time with them and take an interest in shared things. It cannot sustain on memories alone. Like a fire, a partnership can not survive without fuel from both parties. It takes understanding, passion and the occasional off the wall moment. Without the added sparks that keep it going the flame dies out and what's left? a smoky pile of ashes.

While it hurts now to have this end It will pass and perhaps in time prospects of new love will arise.

If you don't know
Then you can't care
And you show up
But you're not there
But I'm waiting
And you want to
Still afraid that I will desert you

Everyday
With every worthless word we get more far away
The distance between us makes it so hard to stay
But nothing lasts forever, but be honest babe
It hurts but it may be the only way

Blind

Happy 4th of July Everyone! It's Independence day here in America and we celebrate by taking time off work, enjoying family and watching fireworks! YAY! In honor of our nations birthday I took a little trip to the Virtual Capitol Hill. I can't help but hum the School Rock tune "I'm just a Bill" as I TP in and explore.
Capitol Hill in SL was opened on Jan 4, 2007 so it's been around SL for quite some time. This Sim was inspired by the scenery and regional elements found near the capitol itself. Capitol Hill has the feel of an "educational" Sim, with information on issues such as: Health Care, National security, College Costs, Energy Independence, Minimum Wage, and Stem Cell Research. Both major parties are represented here so the information is pretty unbiased, although some areas could use some updating.

Located around the sim of Capitol Hill you will find movies on the issues mentioned above along with some popcorn to help keep you awake. :) the movies are mostly historical in nature and are from 1930's-1960's. I was hoping to find the movie Independence Day, you know the one where the aliens try to take over the world, but sadly these movies were of a different nature. In all Capitol Hill is a nifty little place to learn and explore.

Now It's time to enjoy the rest of the day by sitting back having a beer and watching the fireworks tonight. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence day!

As a child, I knew
That the stars could only get brighter
That we would get closer
Get closer
Leaving this darkness
Behind...

Now that I'm older
The stars should lie upon my face
And when I find myself alone
I feel like I
I am blind
