The Magic's In the Makeup

I want to start off by saying I have total respect for skin designers in SL. I realize there is hours of hard work and painstaking detail they take into consideration when creating skins. Skins after all are the most essential part of an avatar's identity. I myself have attempted to create a skin and failed horribly. (I'm not ashamed to admit it. ) With this said. I'm going to continue on with my post.

Earlier this week I plurked about how happy I was to receive a group gift from CHAI Nova Skins in all colors. I loved this because it allowed me to have the option to CHOOSE my skin. (I know there is always a choice to wear a skin or not.) Rather than having one skin tone the group gift contained 9 skin tones. Which was extremely generous. I know other groups release skins in all colors. Exodi skins, (which I'm currently wearing for the photo) released a freebie that contains all skin tone.

I am not complaining about the fact that skin makers tend to release a group gift or freebie for a hunt in one color, but rather stating that I enjoy when there are options available and when a skin maker chooses to acknowledge that there are various ethnic groups in SL. I am grateful for every freebie or discounted skin I have received in SL. In fact I have kept several in my inventory some dating back to 2006. I have skins in various colors; some light, some dark and quite often my skin tone changes for a particular look or style. But every now and then I want to look like my RL self. Dark hair, tan skin and freckles ever so slightly along the bridge of my nose and cheeks.

Can you tell I'm faking it? But I want to be myself
A counterfeit disposition
Can't be good for my health
So many different faces
Depending on the different phases
My personality changes
I'm a chameleon
There's more than one dimension
I can fool you and attract attention
Camouflage my nature
Let me demonstrate...

Makeup's all off
Who am I?
Magic's in the make up
Who am I?

This is Halloween

This evening I had the great pleasure of attending the Loco Pocos Trick or Treat Event. If your looking for a place to start your Halloween Fun this is the spot to do it. Loco Pocos is home to very cute and customizable tinies in Second Life. These unique avatars are hard to ignore, they are cute and affordable.

The Loco Pocos event will run until November 1, 2009. This Halloween activity is a total blast I highly recommend going for an evening of fun. I found this event perfect for getting me into the Halloween Spirit. When first entering you will gather a Halloween candy bag perfect for helping you collect sugar goodies located behind the doors. Now not every door contains a candy prize, some have tricks and are a tad scary. The main Prize is a new Loco Poco created just for this event. It's a very cute Pig.
I actually ran threw it twice. First as a human where I managed to snag the Locos Pocos prize Avie Hamrietta. I actually never owned a Loco Pocos avatar before and as soon as I got Hamrietta out of the box I had to go back and customize her. I purchased a skirt and tee and added a bobble headband to complete her Halloween look. Thank you Loco Pocos for kicking off Halloween 2009. You guys Rock!

Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It's our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween

Edge of the Ocean

First off this blog has always been my diary so to speak. I talk about my SL experiences, fashion I think is cute and people or places along the way. It's not perfect...I know. I have grammatical errors and run on sentences and perhaps sometimes I ramble on a bit too much. The point is this is MY blog and I will not stop writing because it makes me HAPPY. :D with that said let's get on to today's post.

some history..

Frankie Palliard has been my best friend in SL/RL for almost three years. We meet in 2007 and clicked instantly. Frankie has always been that inspiration in my SL. That guiding force pushing me to branch out further by always providing encouragement and unconditional support. We had some tough moments too. (It wasn't always rainbows and kittens.) Yet something always pulled me back to him. His friendship never faltered.

This summer I took some time away from SL to get my RL in order and put some things in perspective. During that time Frankie was there emailing me and making time to talk via messenger. (My internet usage was very limited). He proved that our friendship went beyond this Virtual World into the Real one when he made the trip from Italy to America and came to stay with me for a bit. I finally got to meet the real person behind that avatar and it was wonderful. We had some real adventures, explored my hometown, traveled to San Antonio to see the Alamo, and even went to Houston to see the Space Center. (I live in Texas in case you didn't figure that out.) One afternoon while we were having lunch in a cafe, and sitting across from one another, he got this look on his face and asked "Do you want to be my partner again?" My response "only if you get me a baby unicorn" :) As his departure date approached We found ourselves growing a little sad because we started to realize we were going to be away from one another and we would miss one each other intensely. I'm not gonna lie, I cried like a baby when he left and went back home. If I could have fit inside his suitcase and gone back to Italy with him....I would have done it.

At the risk of sounding like Star Jones, I'll try to keep this short. I will tell you that last Sunday we had our SL Wedding, (yes we did it again.) It was at Tropical Weddings where Rick Wake performed the service. (he did our first wedding.) It wasn't a perfect, but I laughed so much and had a blast. I was happy that some friends showed up and were witnesses. I know people have busy SL lives and it meant a lot they took time to share this with us. I will never forget it.

Frankie and I also defined our Real Life relationship and had "The Talk". He is now a big part of my RL and I love him very much. I'm counting down the days until I get to make my trek to his part of the world and spend more time with him.

There's a place I dream about
Where the sun never goes out.
And the sky is deep and blue.
Won't you take me there with you.

Ohhh, we can begin again.
Shed our skin, let the sun shine in.
At the edge of the ocean
We can start over again.
