I just moved back into my childhood home to help care for my grandmother. Everything seem so surreal. I half expect to wake up any second from my dream and have things back to normal, but I know that wont happen. So many memories in this house if these walls could only talk. My first steps were taken here, my first day of school, learning to ride a bike, shoot a gun, and even my first contact with a computer. (Smile) Everywhere I turn in this house I see the past I once shared with my family members who are now gone. I tear up a little thinking of the past, I really miss my grandfather, I guess it will just take time.

Intuition

At the risk of exposing another one of the many reasons why I'm such a geek, I decided to take some time to talk about podcasts. More specifically podcasts that I listen to about Second Life. I heard about podcast island and podcaster island from Radar Masukami, of SL Under the Radar. (Don't worry ill talk a little more about that podcast a little later).

First lets answer the question What is a Podcast? according to my friend Wiki (coughs, I know..not the best source) "A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media player and personal computers." (whew) Basically its like a radio show you download off the Internet in mp3 format, and don't let the name podcast scare you off, even if you don't have an ipod you can listen to it. :)

Now I can talk a little about Podcast Island. This Great Sim was created by Gary Leland, founder and owner of the podcast pickle. The island is a meeting place for podcasters, a place for fans of podcasts, and well just a great place to explore. Almost everything on this island is free. Sooo, if your low on Lindens this is another place you might want to visit. ;)

Lets get into the Podcasts that I listen to.... I currently have eight podcasts I download on second Life alone. Wow, that's a lot (lol). let me tell you about some of my favorites. :) Since I already mentioned SL Under the Radar, by Radar Masukami, we will start with that podcast first.
Lets see how to describe this podcast.....Well, its Radars take on second life. Its Funny, Informative, and always entertaining.:) Some of the topics he has covered so far is asking the question is SL a game? How to look good in SL and IM a jackass, manners in SL. I really enjoy the intros to the shows, and hearing his views on SL.

Another Podcast I really enjoy is: Second Life Tips from the Traveling Avatar. Ive actually been listing to this one for a while. The podcast is always under ten minutes and is very amusing. I find myself chuckling along to the podcast. Topics covered range from giving advice on partnering, how to create a great profile and my all time favorite walk off the drama, Places to go when in IM hell. The little drama skit is priceless ;) I know i was laughing my butt off. I highly recommend downloading this Podcast. I patiently await each new show that arrives.

GO-Karts!!!!

Now there is a track that goes around the entire island so it is possible to have some fun and race your friends in one of these snazzy go karts and yes, like the sign says, their FREEE!!!!

There is a great little drive in movie theater on podcast island. Yet another great place to take your date. I have a soft spot in my heart for Drive in Theaters. (something i find wildly romantic.)

Now, I have to give credit to Will from the traveling Avatar for introducing me to The Britney Mason Show. I downloaded one episode and was hooked immediately. This is a video podcast first off, and is shot entirely in Second Life. Its a show about pop culture, podcasts and music. So far my favorite has been her interview with Galacticast. very funny :) She even has her own theme song which I cant get out of my head. I guess I'm in love with Britney Mason too. :)

Boy now my addiction to SL is just starting to sink in.(lol) Just remember if you are needing an SL fix from work, or during that family vacation where you won't have access to your computer, it might be a good idea to download a podcast or two or eight (lol) and listen when you can't play.

When All the Stars were Falling

I received this lovely unicorn as a wedding present from my husband. :) I have named him Starlite, the most magnificent horse in the universe.

I admit it, I am a product of the 80's. I grew up with Rainbow Bright, Jem and the Holograms, My little Pony, Smurfs, and Sheera Princess of Power. Kids today don't know what they are missing. :) I decided to pay a tribute to one of my favorites, Rainbow Bright. She brings color and light to the darkest corners; she has an awesome pet horse named Starlite and has a love of stars. I actually loved Rainbow Bright so much as a kid. I remember watching the movie "Rainbow Bright and the Star Stealer" over and over again. I would pretend I was Rainbow Bright fighting Murky and Lurky's evil plans to rid the world of color. I even had a Rainbow Bright doll I carried everywhere I went. OK, enough reminiscing about my childhood. :)
Today I visited this great cartoon sim, Aiot's Toon Wonderland. I had been searching for a cartoon sim for a couple of days now. I was quite surprised to have found such a fun little place. There is definitely more than what meets the eye here. When I first arrived I was greeted by Sim owner Aiot, he informed me that there was a set of caves and even a castle at the end of the tunnel. I knew at that moment that I had found what i was looking for.

We were first stopped by this little Pickman, He asked us to help save his fellow friends from danger. They were forced to work in the mines for Murky and Lurky. I eagerly took up the challenge. Rainbow Bright is one fierce chick!

We crossed the river in search of Murky's and Lurky's Evil lair. Starlite was a little scared of this bee after all I couldn't blame him he has been stung before.

we entered the dark cave........ Ohhh Starlite, I'm a little frightened, I hope were ok.

Hmmm, I think Freud would have a field day with this little guy, he just doesn't look right.

We meet a strange little guy who told us that the Pickman were digging up color crystals. Murky and Lurky were creating an evil potion and had made Pickman their zombies.

We found their lair, and headed with caution. That huge pot must be where they are making the potion.

Caught! Oh no, Starlite and I were captured and placed into the water. Luckily I had my color belt (not only just a great fashion accessory). Starlite was able to knock over the potion and we were on our way, making our great escape.

We saved the Pickman and restored color to their world.

Special Dedication to my KIKI, my little sister in RL who has decided to join SL, hope this brings back good memories for you too. Love you, your BS(lol) :)

Running

Wedding Bells were ringing on Saturday May 19Th 2007. That is the day Frankie and I joined hands and became virtual husband and wife. :)

True love is the soul's recognition of it's counterpoint in another. It is a rare thing and something to be valued. To love, is to see things other people do not see. Our first kiss as husband and wife. :) He sweeps me off my feet, makes my heart race and takes my breath away. I was so thrilled to have this moment finally happen. I had a huge smile on my face the entire day. (It actually hurt after a while, j/k lol) :D I felt just like Cinderella (without the ugly stepsisters).

Now just in case you wanted to know... We got married at the Valentine Wedding Chapel. I absolutely loved this place. Dancing, romantic spots for cuddling, and a gorgeous view. I recommend anyone who is looking for a romantic spot to explore this Sim. (its not just for weddings.)

Spoiled?? who me? Well yes, just a little bit. :) I do feel very fortunate to have found my price charming. I look forward to each day that will pass with him by my side. He has been my knight defending my honor. My confidante with whom I share my secrets. My rock when I am having the most difficult day. He encourages me not to give up on my ideas. I will treasure him always, for he is My Friend, My Husband, My Partner.

All Star

Knowing how much I love basketball, My guy took me to the T- Mobile NBA Arena. Now this is an amazing sim to visit especially if your a basketball fan. All your favorite playoff teams are here, Including my favorite ... The San Antonio Spurs!!!!!!! oh and thats not cause there my home team or anything, Honest :) LOL

First thing you might want to do is pick up a jersey from your team. I wanted Tony Parker, but since it was not available I settled for another favorite of mine, Mr. Tim Duncan. The jeserys are only 100l so if you like more than one team you can pick up several jerseys. Now jeserys are not the only thing that available for purchase, oh no I also saw some nifty headbands and wristbands to keep the sweat off while playing. After finding your team jersey you can decide to show off your skills on the court.


I was pretty impressed with this basketball court, It looks almost official. I started out by grabbing a basketball provided by the T- Mobile Arena. This basketball is great as you walk it bounces the ball so it looks like your actually dribbling down the court.


Next i wanted to try my hand out at making a couple of baskets. In order to shoot the ball you need to get a hud from the back of the arena. While wearing the hud shots can be made by while in mouse look. I had a little trouble at first but after a little practice I was making Three pointers just like the pros.


Bells shoot and scores the winning point!!!!! the crowd cheers and we are now champions!!
ahhhh if only it were real, but a girl can dream......right.



Next we move to the Larry O'Brien Trophy Room . This is where you can pose for pictures just like your favorite NBA players. Woot! Spurs Are Number One !!!!!!!!

and finally the Cisco Press Room. I always wondered what it would feel like to be standing behind this podium. Now all i need is one of those championship rings. LOL

You Know I'm No Good

Drama, Drama, Drama................... That's all I have had this week and it's only Thursday. I always heard about this thing they call drama but, I never knew it would have such a fiery temper and would leave such a sting. While the details of the drama fade away, the pain is still there. Friendly reminder to all: Avatars have a RL person behind them! While we can be almost invincible in physical form on SL, our emotional side can become easily bruised and damaged.
All this Drama is too much, I need a distraction, an escape......I need a good shopping spree!!!

Now I know have said before how much I love the store Artilleri. It really is one of my favorite stores in all of SL, but a new store has caught my eye, that store is Inalde. Ivalde is a clothing store for women that specializes in retro styles from the periods of 1920's-1960's. The prices of the clothing are very affordable. All the items I purchased were under 300l. The quality is great as well. I love the detail that has been added to the items. I think i might eventually end up with the whole store,........... well at least a majority of it (hehe).


I feel like I cheated myself for not finding this store earlier. So many awesome clothes to wear and so little time. :)
